L’Oréal Paris has been part of firm history for 25 years as the Official Makeup Artist of the Cannes Film Festival. For this very special occasion, celebrities and brand ambassadors were invited to continue celebrating the talent of women in the industry.
The Cannes Film Festival is celebrating its 75th year and I was fortunate to witness the display of glamour, talent, and luxury that defines this iconic event on the French Riviera. I was invited by L’Oréal Paris to celebrate its 25th year participating in this emblematic film festival. From start to finish, I felt pampered like a red carpet A-lister. L’Oréal had everything under control, from their team of super-professional makeup artists and hairstylists to the organization of their gala to the goodies bags that were in my room.
Cannes is a great opportunity for the brand to reaffirm its support for women filmmakers. For the second year in a row, L’Oréal Paris together with its ambassador and event jury member, Kate Winslet, presented the Lights on Women award to highlight the work of women in the industry. In addition, this year the brand had 30 global makeup artists, led by L’Oréal Paris creative Val Garland, in charge of creating unforgettable makeup looks for the festival.
As part of the experience, L’Oréal planned an anniversary dinner with friends of the brand, featuring great, emotional moments when they cut the cake. Among the many celebrities singing Joyeux Anniversaire were Eva Longoria, Elle Fanning, Rochelle Humes, Didi Stone, and Jasmine Tooks. A personal highlight was the restaurant where the celebration took place, La Petite Maison, since it’s one of my favorites in Cannes.
Another of my favorite moments was discovering products I didn’t know about, such as the Revitalift line, starting with the plumping serum with 1.5% pure hyaluronic acid and the intense care eye cream, also with hyaluronic acid. As for makeup, I fell in love with the L’Oréal True Match products, which have become a hit on Tik Tok for all the right reasons. In the compact powder section, I discovered Infallible, which boasts up to 24-hour coverage. Amazing!
My look for the event was from Lebanese designer, Nicolas Jebran. The zipper of the dress broke and we had to do a quick fix but everything worked out, and I managed to be on time for the red carpet. In Cannes everything is timed to the millisecond, so fashionably late doesn’t apply. The premier I was invited to was Armageddon Time starring Anne Hathaway, Anthony Hopkins, and Jeremy Strong. I was able to cross this off my bucket list, but I wouldn’t mind going back every year. À bientôt Cannes!
