Haute Couture fashion shows are among the most important and exclusive there are. This week 30 designers approved by the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture presented their collections for Spring 2022.

Dear diary:

This week the Haute Couture fashion shows were held to present the collections for the Spring 2022 season. The truth is that I was very excited, but it was a very difficult decision whether to go. Up until last weekend I still didn’t know if I was going to attend. The whole pandemic thing and being away from my little ones for another week really made me hesitate, but in the end I decided that it’s an experience I love and it would be my first Fashion Week of the year. I love Haute Couture shows. The collections are really beautiful. Each of the garments is made by hand with a high level of precision. More than clothes, these are works of art.

I arrived in Paris on Sunday since it’s impossible to arrive on Monday since the events start early. In addition to the runway shows, there are the different brands presentation and, commitments with friends such as dinners and lunches. Then, there are the photo shoots and garment fittings for what I plan to wear to the runways. This time I stayed at Hôtel Costes, one of my favorites. The suite was spectacular. I fell in love with the glass closet that showed off all the clothes, bags, shoes, and accessories that I wore. The first days were a whirlwind of events, with me running around the entire City of Light without a second’s rest.

But the day I want to tell you about is Wednesday, January 26. I woke up very early, ordered breakfast in the room – a plate of blackberries and strawberries, fresh orange juice and coffee – and continued getting ready without wasting a minute. The first outfit I decided to wear was a mini dress with ballooned sleeves by Zuhair Murad in tulle with floral motifs in embroidered sequins. I combined it with the Stud Sign bag in black leather with a chain and Tan-Go platforms in black patent leather, both from Valentino. I left my room around 11:00, as the first show, which was that of the Lebanese designer Zuhair Murad, started at 12:00. Upon arriving at the venue, I was met with a sea of paparazzi at the entrance. The collection was impressive, each of the looks that walked the catwalk was inspired by the high seas: beautiful dresses with countless pearls, crystals, and gems that gave the illusion of enigmatic treasure chests. It was a dream collection that I fell in love with. After the show, I quickly returned to my room, and my glam squad retouched my makeup and made some small changes to my beauty look. I quickly jotted down my impressions of the Zuhair Murad show to share with you on my blog.

The second look of the day was a Haute Couture dress from Viktor & Rolf. This baby blue satin mini dress featured ruffles, lace, and ribbon details – very much in the style of Marie Antoinette. I paired it with a Chanel quilted leather bag with pearl straps and Tan-Go platforms by Valentino. I left my room just in time to get to the Dutch duo Viktor & Rolf’s runway that would start at 16:00. While I was in the van, I noticed that the day was cloudy, that half of the Eiffel Tower was hidden in the clouds. Once again, when I got out of the black SUV, I found myself face to face with photographers. I must confess that I love Viktor & Rolf fashion shows. They always have a sense of over-the-top drama that turns each runway into an art performance. Inspired by Dracula, fashion artists Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, created a collection full of gloomy silhouettes with raised the shoulders that lengthened the models’ bodies. The collection contained dresses, jackets, blouses, pants, skirts, coats, and more. Each piece was a beautiful example of what French Haute Couture should be.

After the show, I decided to walk for a while before my next appointment. I took the opportunity to do a bit of sightseeing in Paris. I went to the Louvre and the Jardin des Tuileries. I love walking around this city, you can just breathe in art, fashion, and history. I stopped at a small cafe to eat something and recharge. I arrived at my last appointment of the day, at the Paco Rabanne showroom, to see the firm’s Fall 2022 collection. I really liked the silhouettes that the designer Julien Dossena gave us this season. In this collection we got to see the DNA of the brand, but with a fresher and more modern vision that fits in with the spirit of today’s youth. There were classic bags with PVC discs and metal links, very characteristic of Paco Rabanne, but in shades of pink, silver, and gold (I love them all!).

I finally decided to return to my hotel. It was a long day and I’d been getting tired since Sunday. I went back to my room, and before changing into my pajamas, I took a few more photos of the incredible look by Viktor & Rolf. Once in bed, I turned on the television and started writing a review of Viktor & Rolf’s Spring 2022 Haute Couture collection. The moment I closed the laptop my eyes did the same.
