Platforms are making a triumphant comeback for Spring 2022 with shoes that remind us to reach for the sky (and style points).

With hot days on the way and a drop in Covid cases, we’re taking off our masks and putting on our platforms. It’s time to take on the world in towering shoes–looks that beyond the sneakers and crocs we got used to wearing at home. Platforms remind us how fun it is to put together looks that can go from the streetwear to the party attire—looks that feel like they came straight out of a fashion magazine.

Platform shoes are making up for all of the days we spent locked up in leggings, taking us back to the 70s, very much in the vein of Studio 54. This season, brands like Vivienne Westwood, Versace, and Valentino have joined the trend with platform looks on their catwalks. Many independent brands, like Nodaleto or Naked Wolf, have also joined disco fever.

Platforms not only give us 10 cm more height but a tone of style points. As you have can see on my Instagram feed and Tik Tok account, it’s a trend I’ve always loved. What is different about these shoes is that you can wear them not only on party nights, but during the day for impactful but relaxed looks. Their height and different designs are what have ended up winning over all fashion enthusiasts, including me.

Platform shoes or sandals are a very versatile option for wearing with mini dresses, wide-leg pants, long dresses, and even mini shorts that show off your tan. Platforms are more than a trend; they are a statement that fashion has taken to the streets again. At last, we can touch the sky get back some of the normalcy we’ve so missed.
