You don’t need to live on the beach to get into the tropical print trend for the hot days ahead.
One of the trends that I like to wear the most is bold prints and tropical motifs. If you go through my IG feed, you can see the influence of living in Miami in my outfit choices. The tropical print style includes wearing pieces in bright colors with graphics of palm trees, hibiscus flowers, birds, and other similar motifs. Lately, tropical prints have appeared on red carpets and catwalks, and in royal outings.
We have also seen the tropical print trend on TikTok, where it has been called the “Coconut girl aesthetic,” a tribute to the beach scene. The coolest thing is that it can be part of any garment you can imagine: dresses, pants, blouses, and even gowns. This look is not only for bathing suits or beachwear. You don’t have to live in a seaside destination to embrace the trend that reminds us of such iconic looks as Jennifer Lopez’s Versace dress at the 2000 Grammys.
As with other recent trends, this one is all about keeping fashion lighthearted post-lockdown. We are all looking for a vacation after so much stress, uncertainty, and confinement. The ideal way to combine this tropical print look is to pair it with accessories that stand out and speak for themselves, such as jaw-dropping heels or maxi earrings. You can even use tropical themed accessories.
