One of the most powerful trends of the season are asymmetries: cut-outs and off-the shoulder looks. We saw this trend on Fashion Week runways, the street, social media and in shopping carts (including mine!)

One of the things I most love about fashion is its versatility and the way it adapts to all circumstances. The way we dress is undoubtedly a reflection of what is happening in the world, with hot days (as well as a return to normalcy) on the way, fashion is becoming much more creative and liberated. This season’s garments invite us to dream, dare and have fun with them. Many of the top pieces of the season are full of whimsical shapes, asymmetries, and cut-outs. Plus, they are made with unexpected materials like synthetic leather, crochet, patent leather, and satin, and sometimes feature sequins, feathers, and crystals.

Asymmetric shapes can be seen in mini dresses but also in tops that range from one-shoulder to strapless and halter tops. This gives these pieces a much more organic way of adapting to the body—not to mention an artistic twist. The trend is one that we’ll (undoubtedly) take advantage of this sunny season, but that will also extend into fall, especially for those transition days since asymmetrical pieces can be worn in layers for a stylish effect. In this post, I’m showing you what’s in my shopping cart: pieces that can be worn alone and still make a splash and others that can be combined other trendy pieces, like flared pants and miniskirts.

Have fun buying and creating asymmetrical looks!
