This week we experienced the latest New York Fashion Week. Over 6 days we got to discover the designers’ Fall 22 collections. Here’s a brief summary of the most surprising moments of NYFW.

It has certainly been a very interesting fashion week, full of impressive collections, designs that surprised us, and runway shows that gave us something to talk about. New York Fashion Week has once again wowed us, setting the bar very high for the next three international fashion capitals.

Bella Hadid is back on the runway

The supermodel was MIA during the Spring 2022 runway shows, so people began to wonder: where’s Bella? But this season, she made a triumphant comeback during the Proenza Schouler runway show, wearing an asymmetrical black blouse with an XL ear-shaped pin, combined with olive green baggy pants, a pair of ballet flats, an oversized leather bag, and a black knit balaclava. It was one of the most memorable looks on the catwalk, both because of the accessories and because of the woman who wore it. Bella Hadid made it clear that she is one of the top models of our time.

Thom Browne gave us a preview of his next collection

At the end of January, the designer announced that he would not be presenting his Fall 2022 collection during New York Fashion Week but would instead reveal his unisex designs on April 29th. But during NYFW, the designer gave us a sneak peek. In these images, we saw models clad in the classic tartan print that has become part of the brand’s DNA. We saw this print in the jackets, blouses, skirts, stockings, socks, shoes, and the brand’s famous dog-shaped. This preview has made us eager to see the entire collection. We’re waiting for April to arrive as quickly as possible.

Julia Fox opened the LaQuan Smith show

The year started off with with the news that the actress Julia Fox managed to conquer the heart of none other but Ye (Kanye West). After becoming the most photographed couple at Haute Couture shows, we then learned that Julia Fox and Kanye had split. But what can a woman do to show that she doesn’t need a man? Walk for one of the coolest, most chic brands of the moment: LaQuan Smith. This brand has been characterized by sensuality rendered in sexy looks that enhance feminine curves. Julia Fox opened the show for the American designer, taking the audience by surprise and getting all the cameras and social networks to turn to her.

InStyle US will become digital-only

Just one day before the kick off of  New York Fashion Week, the publishing industry was rocked by one of the most devastating news stories of the year. American InStyle will stop its print publication. It’s next edition in April will be the last printed edition, and then, the magazine will continue to publish digitally. Hundreds of editors and staff members have stopped working at the publishing house. This move reminds us that the publishing industry, specifically the print industry, is in a very turbulent time and that the future for this type of media is uncertain. It’s a pity because this magazine was a bastion in the world of fashion and style just a few years ago.

Zion takes Manhattan and New York Fashion Week

The actress Zion Moreno, born to Mexican parents and representative of the LGBTQ+ community took New York Fashion Week by storm. She is one of the it-girls of the moment and looked spectacular in the front row of the runway shows of LaQuan Smith, where she wore a catsuit with transparencies and velvet details, and Christian Cowan, where she wore an ensemble made up of a crop-top with long sleeves and a mini skirt both in checkered black and pink print. The star of the Gossip Girl reboot has confirmed her status as celebrity royalty, conquering not only the world of acting but also fashion. With big projects on the horizon, this actress from El Paso, Texas is here to stay.
