This collection is a great example of timeless style built around high-quality but modern investment pieces for the years to come.

Ferragamo continues to be an independent luxury brand amid a sea of global luxury conglomerates. In fact, it’s largely a family business. And, it’s going under some changes as Leonardo Ferragamo is set to replace Ferruccio Ferragamo as president, and Giacomo Ferragamo will return to the board of directors after a year away from the company. Giovanna Ferragamo, daughter of Salvatore Ferragamo, will be stepping down.
In addition to these changes in the management, Salvatore Ferragamo announced the departure of Paul Andrew, who left the firm in early May 2021.

The creative director and designer left his position after bringing his fresh energy to the brand for the last five years.  Guillaume Meilland took his place as Design Director for the Salvatore Ferragamo team, which sought to present a contemporary interpretation of the brand’s prestigious Resort collections for 2022.
The collection is a clever balance between the new and old, which felt appropriate for the time of transition the company is experiencing. Drawing on its legacy but adding fresh touches of creativity, the Salvatore Ferragamo design team gave us a coherent collection of womenswear essentials. My favorites were a silk bomber jacket paired with flared jeans, hand-made sweaters, and knit tops with sailor stripes.  I also loved the draped and transparent dresses, which were super feminine and sensual.

In keeping with the brand’s commitment to sustainability, recycled silk scarves were assembled to create tie-dye dresses and recycled leather was used for patchwork ones. If Ferragamo believes in something, it’s timeless style, far from being disposable. The brand’s collections are built around high-quality, durable, long-wearing investment pieces that are simultaneously timeless. This Resort collection is a perfect example of the brand’s approach. Elegant lines and polished silhouettes are key to the timelessness of the garments and accessories. Personally, I am excited to see what awaits this Italian brand and to know who will be crowned as its next creative director. As they enter the next chapter in the brand’s prestigious story, Salvatore Ferragamo remains true to its traditions: understated elegance and high-end craftsmanship.
