In-person events are back and with them an invitation to experiment with daring gala looks.

With the return of in-person events, we’ll finally be attending all those weddings we couldn’t go to. Over the weekend (and thanks to the internet) we witnessed one of the most anticipated weddings, that of Nicola Peltz and Brooklyn Beckham. The nuptials of Victoria’s and David’s eldest son of Victoria and David got us thinking about formalwear.

Wedding attendees are increasingly looking for comfort but without having to give up elegance and sophistication. Flowing silhouettes, pleats and sumptuous materials are all stand-out trends. Wedding or event looks are all about fun and fantasy. They are a way to break up your everyday looks with something more daring and experimental.

The key to succeeding at a galas is understanding the event and bringing your own style touch to it. Of course, one’s personal style takes many years of trial and error to develop. I personally think it’s fun to try out looks until you find an aesthetic that represents your personality. I like to bring some sparkle weddings through my accessories: XL earrings, dramatic necklaces, and of course, show-stopping shoes.

I would add that, for a daytime wedding, consider wearing flats and even breaking stereotypes to wear them at night, too–very much in the style of the iconic looks from Jackie O, Miuccia Prada, Audrey Hepburn, and Sofia Coppola, who all dared to combine ballerinas with party dresses at super formal events.

In-personal celebrations are back and we must bring our A-game. It’s time to get daring with our looks.
