Today Fendi announced that they finally have iconic Karl Lagerfeld’s replacement as head designer and that person is none other than Kim Jones. As some of you might know, Kim Jones’ is the creative director of Dior Homme (and will continue to be) and among other achievements, last year he was named designer of the year at the Fashion Awards in London.

He is quite an influential figure in the fashion industry, did you know that he designed David Beckham’s suite for Prince Harry’s wedding in 2018? In fact, he’s so talented that John Galliano bought half of his graduate collection in 2002, and has proved time again his creativity with bold movements like renaming Dior Homme into Dior Men’s and going beyond the traditional suiting. Some have said that he injected a streetwear energy on high fashion, blending them both perfectly.

With Fendi, Jones will be in charge of haute-couture, ready to wear and fur collections for women and I’m curious to say the least, to watch his creations as he will be working with Silvia Fendi, who used to appear with Karl Lagerfeld at the end of every women’s wear show, on the catwalk. I guess it’d be interesting to see if this little tradition keeps going on in the next show.

Besides, this will be the first time that Kim Jones will be in charge of women’s wear and I’m sure he will have something spectacular to show the world because he blends high fashion and commercial success effortlessly with his very particular view of how fashion should look like. So, yes, I’m excited to see his first collection with Fendi!
