Recently I was asked to share what I consider the essential pieces in a woman’s wardrobe that could be both functional and stylish at the same time, and it could seem like a simple task but let me tell you that it is not, as there are so many options of so many brands I love an wear, and there are so many fun and amazing trends… not easy in the least.
However, I realized I really wanted to make this list and I wanted it to be practical, versatile and most important of all, that would have the ability to allow any woman wearing these pieces to shine. This list is going to have two different options of each piece that I love, but I want you to give you more affordable options.
1.- Little Black Dress. Let’s start by one of the most iconic pieces in every woman’s wardrobe. This versatile piece can be accessorized in so many ways for so many occasions that only your imagination is the limit. I’d recommend you to choose a dress that hugs your curves without pulling anywhere.
One my favorites is this Dolce & Gabbana black dress:
Another option can be this Dsquared2 gorgeous dress:
2.- Quality Jeans. A quality pair of designer jeans is a must in any woman’s wardrobe: you’ll be wearing them for a long time, you can accessorize them for a glamorous look or a more relaxed one. You can choose from a variety of styles: boot cut, straight leg, boyfriend style, skinny… your choice, try as many as you’d like until you find the ones that compliment your silhouette
I love this Balmain jeans:
And these ones from Michael Kors:
3.- Cardigan or Turtleneck Sweater. Both are great for layering and this is another piece you can dress up or don according to the situation, if is cashmere your sweater will be soft, warm and extra cool.
This Saint Laurent cashmere sweater is ideal for your basic’s selection:
Or you can opt for this beautiful sweater from Raundi:
4.- Classic White Shirt. A perfectly tailored white shirt makes you look classic and sophisticated, just pay attention that you’re able to move your arms comfortably in it.
This one form Alexander McQueen is not exactly your traditional white shirt, but I love it
This one from Michael Kors is more classical and equally gorgeous:
5.- Blazer. To find a blazer that fits you perfectly, you need to pay attention that the sleeves hit your mid thumb when your arms are down at your sides, make sure the seam sits squarely n your natural shoulders and isn’t too tight or too loose, finally check the hem as it should skim your hipbone.
This blazer from Tom Ford is completely gorgeous:
And you can also consider this other option from PS Paul Smith
As you all know, I only recommend products I’d use myself, so this post contains affiliate links, that means if you use them to make a purchase I may receive a commission from that sale.
Remember that in building a basic wardrobe you want to consider price, material’s quality and craftmanship, this in an investment you’re doing, so pay attention to what you’re getting and make sure that everything you select, fits you properly and makes you look amazing!
